A lifetimes on the platform. One of the most respected voices in American Olympic weightlifting.
Michael Cohen is a native of Savannah, Georgia and one of the few figures in any sport to reach the Olympics as both an athlete and a coach. He made the 1980 U.S. Olympic Team as a lifter and returned to the Olympic stage as Head Coach of the 2000 and 2004 U.S. Women's Weightlifting Teams. In 1988 he founded Team Savannah, which has dominated American weightlifting for over two decades — producing National, World, and Olympic athletes. Michael is the only American coach to have athletes medal at Junior Worlds, Senior Worlds, Master Worlds, Pan-Am Championships, Pan-Am Games, and the Olympics.
